The Method · Changelog

Every change to the method, dated.

The method is published, so changes to it are too. A change of method is never shown as progress. When it changes, scores restart once, marked “New method”.

Every step a buyer takes is measured

  • At least five questions for every step in a buyer’s journey: 32 questions for six steps or fewer, up to 50 for ten.
  • Steps nearest the purchase get the extra questions.
  • The free score and the beta use the same rule.

Questions that name you test belief, not being found

  • A question like “Is this firm any good?” now counts only towards Believed, never Found.
  • So checking a brand you already know can’t inflate whether you’re found.

One clean restart

  • When a brand moves to a new method, its next score is marked “New method” and isn’t compared with older scores. No false progress.

One way of asking, for every buyer

  • The same questions method for the free score and the beta: the free score covers the main buyer, the beta every buyer.
  • Each question is asked of every assistant three times.

Chapter 23 of the book becomes the method

  • Every score names its method version. A score on a new method is never shown as a rise or a fall.
  • Known and Kept are marked “not measured yet”, not left out quietly.
  • Every score shows its range, or says why it can’t yet.
