Glossary · M

mo·ment

noun · the unit of the method

One kind of buyer, at one step, with one need, buying in one way.

From chapter 6 of Seen Isn’t Selected, “Moments, not funnels”. One of 26 terms, each defined once, in a sentence you can quote.

In a sentence

“We lose café owners at Comparing, and win them at Buying.”

Why it matters

One number for the whole brand hides exactly what you need to know. Scored moment by moment, the score shows where you win and where you lose.

Not to be confused with

A funnel stage, which assumes buyers move in order. And a persona, which is one kind of buyer: a moment is that buyer at one step.

Moments make a map.

Steps across, kinds of buyer down. Each cell is one moment, scored on its own. Example: Monday by Nine, the café bookkeeper from the book.
