Fourteen things nobody knows yet.

The book leans on evidence that's young, and much of it comes from firms with something to sell. Every gap can be closed, and most need data no single firm holds.

From “What we don't know yet”, the closing section of Seen Isn't Selected. Evidence reviewed in October 2026.

Every gap, plainly.

Said the way the book says it. Each one is a question, not a claim, and each can be closed with data.

01
Habitual buying

No study shows AI changing which brand people buy on habit.

02
Memory and machines

No published study tracks a brand from building its name to being recommended more by AI.

03
How many runs are enough

No independent study says how many AI answers make a stable rate.

04
Which answers decide

No study measures which questions settle a purchase.

05
Consistency and the one truth

No study links consistency across sources to AI recommendation or to sales.

06
Reasons

No study links a reason customers repeat to a higher win rate.

07
The last step

The size of “no decision” comes from one proprietary dataset.

08
Keeping and the machine

Nothing links churn or service failures to a later fall in AI recommendation.

09
Challengers and small firms

No verified case of a challenger displacing a bigger rival in AI answers through better evidence.

10
Cause and effect

No randomised experiment yet links an AI recommendation to an actual purchase.

11
The score itself

The weights are judgement, and not yet fitted to sales.

12
The score against share

Nobody has yet shown a higher score goes with more share or sales. We’re running the test.

13
How independent AI answers are

Answers to the same phrasings aren’t separate draws. Nobody has measured by how much.

14
Most of the world

The company stories come from North America, Europe, China and Australia.

Does a higher score go with more sales?

Nobody, including us, has shown it yet. Chapter 30 of the book sets out the test, and we're running it, starting with our own score. If the answer is no, we'll publish that too.
